Screaming Oyster Visits The Job Center

Today I happened to go to the Job Center in Akron on Tallmadge Avenue, just to fax an couple forms to Sallie Mae dealing with my debt to them. When a few things came to a head and burrowed deep into my skin and refuse to leave without a public address. So here it is!

While I was in the Resource Room, using a public fax machine to send to in my IBR form to Sallie Mae Inc. I see the other fax machine is also taken by a man whose arm was in a sling. Nothing too disturbing or unusual about it really until a large older women loudly said to the younger women behind the desk, "Is there another fax machine since all of these are taken by WHITE FOLKS.".

White folks?Really? You had to point out that we were both white and using a fax machine?

What disturbed me about this incident is how African Americans, can call Caucasians out by the color of our skin and it's perfectly acceptable. What if the tables were turned? What if both fax machines were taken up by African Americans and a Caucasian needed the machines? All hell would break loose if "Is there another fax machine since all of these are taken by BLACKIE PEOPLE.".

Why is such a double standard in place? How is it that I can be called white folk, cracker or whatever by someone of another race but it's almost a crime to call someone of the race in question black, negro or other names? What if I'm offended by the derogatory names other races have for Caucasian people?

I get treated differently by Welfare,Social Security and other public assistance programs because of my race, I have a harder time getting the money I need to survive because I AM CAUCASIAN! Why is that? Just because I have a proud European heritage, I have to live a hard life and be jousled around the system?

What really got under my skin other than the racial remark is, how people of color live high on the hog on Welfare. I seen a lobby full of brown faces, and in the hands of each one was a Smart Phone,iPhone or other expensive electronic device. Granted I have an iPod Nano that was a gift a couple years ago from my mother (who busted her hump to afford it) and I've owned a Motorola Razr for about 4 years going on 5 (I bought that while working at Teleperformance). These people were dressed to the nines in the latest labels and fashion accessories, while I can barely afford to buy a new pair of shorts or even the scrubs I need for school.

Excuse me,where did you get the money for all of that? Oh I see your on public assistance...

When I have to go to my dreaded meetings to evaluate my pitiful living situation to receive my food stamps and disability I see a sea of white faces, just trying to get by. Wearing old clothing and a pocket full of quarters for the endangered pay phones, nothing fancy and looking unhealthy. Also in the same eyeful I see well dressed, fancy electronic owning African Americans there for the same reason I am. Do the caseworkers not see what is happening?

The color of your skin is obviously everything to government agencies,if your Caucasian and you need help prepare to have the hardest ride of your life.

Also,I don't care who you are flush a damn public toliet!
